How a task runs

You post a task with a budget and a date. Taskers make offers, and you pick one based on price, reviews and badges. Airtasker takes payment when you accept and holds it. When the task is done you release it, and both sides leave reviews.

Between accepting and finishing, poster and Tasker need to talk: where to park, which door, whether the part arrived. That is where the phone comes in.

People most often use one of our numbers for Airtasker to:

Many apps expect the number you keep. We help with the cases above; we do not help anyone reach an account that is not theirs — see our acceptable use policy.

The verified mobile badge

Airtasker asks users to verify a mobile number, and the badge shows on profiles. For posters, a verified mobile tells Taskers the job is real. For Taskers, it is one of several badges, alongside ID checks, police checks and trade licences where relevant, that posters look at before accepting an offer.

The number on the day

A Tasker running late, a locked gate, a question about materials: these happen on the day, often by phone. A number that has expired since you posted the task means a wasted trip, and a cancellation that can affect reviews on both sides.

Use a number that works from posting until the task is complete. If you want to keep your main mobile private, a second number you keep does the job.

Keep payment on Airtasker

Payment held by Airtasker protects both sides: the poster does not pay for a job that is not done, and the Tasker knows the money is there. A Tasker who asks for cash, a bank transfer or a deposit outside the platform removes that protection. It also breaks the platform's rules.

Extra costs, like materials or extra hours, can be added through the platform too.

Safety at home

Choose Taskers with reviews and relevant badges for the job, check licences for regulated work such as electrical or plumbing, and have someone else at home if you would feel safer. Keep conversations in the app, which gives both sides a record if there is a dispute.

For Taskers

For Taskers, the account is a small business: reviews, completion rate and badges bring in work. A number that changes or lapses costs jobs and can cause missed messages from posters. Put your long-term number on the account and keep your identity verification current.

Questions

Why does Airtasker verify my mobile?

It is a trust badge and how poster and Tasker coordinate a task.

Does Airtasker accept rented numbers?

Sometimes, for verification, depending on the range. For the task itself, use a number you keep.

Can I pay my Tasker in cash?

Keep payment on Airtasker, where it is held until the task is complete.

How do I know a Tasker is trustworthy?

Look at reviews, completion rate and badges such as ID or licence checks.

Which countries is Airtasker in?

It started in Australia and also operates in the UK and some other markets.

What if the code never arrives?

If you used one of our numbers, you are not charged; the held amount returns to your balance.

Do you have free Airtasker numbers?

Public free numbers are shared by everyone who visits a site, so Airtasker usually rejects them or someone else reads the code first. Our numbers are private for the whole activation.

What if Airtasker does not send the code?

You are not charged. Try another country from the table — delivery differs by country, and the measured rates show where it works best.

How much does a Airtasker number cost?

From $4.09, depending on the country. The price shown is the whole price: it is held on your balance and charged only when the SMS arrives.

Can I use the number again later?

No. An activation covers one code. If the account may ask for a code again, keep your own number on it or add an authenticator app.

Which country should I choose for Airtasker?

Right now the lowest prices are in United Kingdom ($4.09), Brazil ($4.16), Finland ($4.16). Where we have at least 100 measured orders the table also shows the delivery rate — when there is one, pick the country with the highest rate.
