What an Ankama account holds

Players of Dofus and Wakfu often spend years building characters, equipment and wealth. That work lives in one Ankama account, which also holds subscriptions and Ogrines, the premium currency. For an attacker, a stolen account is loot to strip and sell.

So the phone question on Ankama is really a question about protection against theft.

Turn on two-factor protection

Ankama offers its own two-factor protection, which asks for a second confirmation when someone signs in from a new device. Turn it on, keep the device or app it uses safe, and store any backup codes somewhere offline.

With it, a password stolen through phishing is not enough on its own to get in.

The email is the master key

Password resets and security notices go to the email on your Ankama account. If someone takes over that email, they can take the game account too. Use an email only you control, protect it with its own two-factor sign-in, and keep it current.

Phishing and fake tools

Common attacks include fake Ankama sign-in pages linked from chat or forums, "free Ogrines" offers, fake giveaways, and downloadable bots, cheats or "helpers" that contain password stealers. Sign in only through the official launcher or site, and never download tools that promise an advantage in the game.

Real-money trading

Buying in-game currency, items or accounts for real money outside Ankama's official systems breaks the terms. Accounts involved can be sanctioned. The trades themselves are a magnet for scams: sellers who disappear, and "sold" accounts that the seller later recovers with their original details.

If your account is stolen

Contact Ankama support through the official site as soon as possible. Recovery means proving the account is yours, with details such as the original email, purchase records and account history. Accounts created with genuine details are far easier to recover than ones built on temporary information.

Shared computers and family accounts

Many players first sign in on a family computer or at a friend's house. Do not let browsers or launchers save your password on shared machines, sign out when you finish, and change your password if you ever signed in somewhere you do not trust. Each player should have their own account rather than sharing one, which also keeps sanctions on one person's behaviour from affecting another.
