A bid is a promise

On Aukro, placing a bid means agreeing to buy if you win. Sellers plan around that, relisting an item costs them time and fees, and repeated non-payment damages your standing. That is why auction sites care that bidders are real, reachable people, and why verification includes a phone number.

Shill bidding

Some sellers try to push prices up by bidding on their own items from second accounts, or by asking friends to. It is forbidden on Aukro and on auction sites generally. Platforms look for patterns such as accounts that only bid on one seller's items, shared devices and bids that stop just before winning.

For collectibles and antiques, ask for extra photos before bidding and agree on packaging for fragile items.

Scams around the site

Watch for "second chance" offers sent after an auction you lost, claiming the winner withdrew and offering the item to you for payment outside the site. Also watch for messages that move a conversation to a messenger and then send a link to a fake payment or courier page. Check every offer and payment inside your Aukro account.

Your number and deliveries

Couriers and parcel services in the Czech Republic and Slovakia usually text or call about delivery, and many parcels go to pickup points that send a code by SMS. The number on your orders should still work when the item ships, which for auctions can be a week or more after you first bid.

Bidding well

Decide your maximum before the auction ends and stick to it. Late bidding wars push prices past what items are worth. Check the seller's feedback, shipping costs and return terms first, and read the description closely for condition notes on used and vintage items. If a price looks too good for the item, ask questions before bidding, not after winning.

2. You won but changed your mind
   Contact the seller at once. Non-payment can affect your account.

   Verify it inside Aukro. Offers by email or messenger are often scams.
4. A seller wants payment outside Aukro
   Be cautious. Use protected payment options.
5. A parcel pickup code did not reach you
   Check the phone number on the order and contact the carrier.
