The list is the asset

A newsletter's value is its subscribers: the people who opened your emails, trusted your recommendations and maybe pay you. That list lives in your beehiiv account. Losing access, through a forgotten login, a lapsed recovery method or a takeover, puts months or years of work at risk.

Export your subscriber list regularly as a backup. It is yours, and a copy outside the platform is cheap insurance.

People most often use one of our numbers for beehiiv to:

Many apps expect the number you keep. We help with the cases above; we do not help anyone reach an account that is not theirs — see our acceptable use policy.

Why new senders get checked

Email providers such as Gmail and Outlook judge platforms by the mail they send. One spammer can hurt delivery for thousands of honest newsletters on the same infrastructure. So newsletter platforms review new publications, watch bounce and complaint rates, and limit or suspend senders whose lists look bought or scraped.

Accounts created with throwaway details to blast a list are exactly what those checks are for. We do not support using our numbers for it.

Importing subscribers

When moving from another platform, import only people who subscribed to you. Purchased lists and scraped addresses lead to high bounce and complaint rates, which get publications restricted. They also break anti-spam laws in many countries.

Getting paid

Paid subscriptions and ad earnings are paid out through payment providers that verify who you are, with identity details, tax information and a bank account in your name or your business's name. That check is about you, and no phone number replaces it.

Protecting the account

Use a unique password and turn on two-factor authentication. Keep the email on the account secure with its own two-factor sign-in, because it can reset your beehiiv password. If a temporary number was ever involved, make sure your recovery methods now point to things you control.

Your own sending domain

Sending from your own domain, rather than a shared platform address, builds a reputation that belongs to you. It also lets you meet mailbox providers' authentication rules with SPF, DKIM and DMARC records. If you ever move platforms, the domain and its reputation come with you. That is another reason to keep the account, the domain registrar and the email that controls both on details you own for the long term.

Working with a team

Add editors and writers as team members with their own logins instead of sharing yours. Each person's access can be limited and removed when they leave, and your own login stays private.

Phishing aimed at creators

Newsletter writers receive fake sponsorship offers with malicious attachments, fake "account suspended" emails and fake collaboration requests that ask you to sign in through a link. Check sponsorships independently, open attachments only from people you have verified, and sign in to beehiiv directly.

Questions

Does beehiiv need a phone number?

The account centres on email, two-factor authentication and, for payouts, verified identity.

Does beehiiv accept rented numbers?

Sometimes, where a phone step appears. Keep recovery and payouts on your own details.

Why was my new publication reviewed?

Platforms check new senders to protect deliverability.

Can I import a purchased email list?

No. Import only people who subscribed to you.

How do I get paid?

Through payment providers that verify your identity and bank details.

What if the code never arrives?

If you used one of our numbers, you are not charged; the held amount returns to your balance.

Do you have free beehiiv numbers?

Public free numbers are shared by everyone who visits a site, so beehiiv usually rejects them or someone else reads the code first. Our numbers are private for the whole activation.

What if beehiiv does not send the code?

You are not charged. Try another country from the table — delivery differs by country, and the measured rates show where it works best.

How much does a beehiiv number cost?

From $4.07, depending on the country. The price shown is the whole price: it is held on your balance and charged only when the SMS arrives.

Can I use the number again later?

No. An activation covers one code. If the account may ask for a code again, keep your own number on it or add an authenticator app.

Which country should I choose for beehiiv?

Right now the lowest prices are in Philippines ($4.07), Chile ($4.10), Colombia ($4.11). Where we have at least 100 measured orders the table also shows the delivery rate — when there is one, pick the country with the highest rate.
