Email, phone and age verification are not the same gate
Roblox account setup only needs a username, a birthdate and a password; no email or phone is demanded up front. Later, the account settings offer three different additions, and they get confused constantly because they all involve entering something and receiving a code or a review. An email address is mostly for sign-in and recovery messages. A phone number, added and confirmed by text, sits in account settings as a second recovery contact and a way to reach certain settings pages.
Age verification is a separate, heavier process that asks for a government-issued ID or a similar check, and it exists to confirm an account holder's actual age band rather than to trust the birthdate typed at signup. None of these three stand in for another. A verified phone number on file says nothing about how old the account holder is, and it will not satisfy anything that specifically asks for age verification.
People most often use one of our numbers for Roblox to:
- Adding a long-term recovery contact to an account you administer
- Clearing a routine phone-verification prompt in account settings
- Keeping a personal number off a public-facing creator or group account
- Setting up recovery on a second account you genuinely run yourself
Many apps expect the number you keep. We help with the cases above; we do not help anyone reach an account that is not theirs — see our acceptable use policy.

What a phone number does not unlock
It is tempting to assume a verified phone number is a general-purpose key that opens whatever a Roblox account has been missing, and that assumption is wrong often enough to spell out plainly. Voice chat and other features Roblox restricts by age are gated behind the ID-based age check described above, not behind a phone number, however recently it was verified.
A phone number also does not raise a spending limit on its own, does not change how Roblox treats an account's reported age, and does not grant access to experiences or settings that a parent has specifically restricted. If a page or a feature says it needs verification, read what kind before adding a phone number and assuming the job is done — it may be asking for the ID-based check instead, which this service has no part in and would not help with anyway.

An account with Robux and items is a target, and the phone number is a small part of defending it
Any Roblox account that has spent real money on Robux, or built up a collection of limited items through trading, is worth something to someone else, and that is exactly the profile scammers go after. The dominant pattern is not a technical break-in; it is a fake "free Robux" page or generator that asks for the account's login, or a bogus trade that hands items away under pressure to act fast.
A verified phone number adds one more way to prove ownership if the account is ever compromised, but it is not the defense that matters most. Two-step verification, turned on in account settings and tied to an authenticator app or a number the owner actually keeps, is the setting that stops most account theft attempts cold. Treat the phone number as a supporting piece, not the main lock.

The real reason people need a phone number: getting back in without the email
The most common genuine problem Roblox players run into is losing access to the email address tied to the account — it belonged to a parent, a school, or an old provider that no longer exists — and having no other way to prove the account is theirs. This is precisely where a verified phone number earns its place: Roblox's account recovery can use it as an alternate contact when the email is gone.
That also explains why this is one of the worst possible accounts to protect with a rented number. If recovery ever depends on reaching that number again, and the rental has ended, the same lockout problem returns in a different shape. A phone number added for recovery purposes needs to be one that will still ring in a year, not one issued for a single text.
What parents should know about the phone number on a child's account
Roblox gives account holders, and parents managing a child's account, controls that limit chat, spending, and which experiences are visible, generally organized under account settings and Account Restrictions. Adding a verified phone number to a child's account does not change those settings on its own; it sits alongside them as a recovery contact, and a parent who wants stricter or looser controls has to go set them directly.
It is also worth saying clearly: a phone number is generally treated as an adult-account feature in the sense that account recovery and settings tied to it work best when a responsible adult controls the number and the account's email both. If a parent is setting up recovery for a family account, that is a legitimate use of this service; helping a young account holder work around a restriction their parent set is not something we provide.
Creators and group owners face the same stakes, plus payouts
A Roblox account that publishes an experience, sells items through a shop, or holds Robux earned through the Creator program is carrying more than a typical player account, and losing access to it is a bigger problem than losing a game profile. These accounts benefit from the same phone-number caution as anywhere earnings are involved: a recovery contact tied to the account should be one the creator keeps for the long run, not a number rented to clear a single prompt.
Group ownership adds another layer, since a group's funds and permissions can be disrupted if the owning account becomes unreachable. None of this changes what a phone number technically does on Roblox; it just raises how much it matters that the number attached to a valuable account keeps working next month, not just today.
What this page will not help with
This page exists to help a parent or an adult player set up their own Roblox account correctly: recovering access, adding a phone number as a genuine long-term recovery contact, or clearing a routine settings prompt. It is not written, and this service does not exist, to help a young account holder get past a parental restriction, fake an age, or slip past a check a parent or Roblox put in place on purpose.
We also do not support using a phone number to get back into an account that was moderated or banned for violating Roblox's rules, or to move Robux or items around outside Roblox's own systems. If either of those describes what is needed, renting a number will not solve it, because the number was never the actual barrier.
Installing Roblox and verifying the number
On Android
- Install Roblox from Google Play and sign in to the account that needs a phone number added
- Open Settings from the menu, then go to the Account Info tab
- Select Phone and enter the rented number with its country code exactly as issued
- If the number is refused immediately, try a different one rather than retrying the same rejected number
- Wait for the SMS code and enter it on the confirmation screen before it expires
- Confirm the phone number now shows as verified under Account Info
- Turn on two-step verification separately if the account holds Robux or purchased items, since the phone number alone does not enable it
- Keep the email address on the account current too, since recovery works best when both are reachable
On iPhone
- Install Roblox from the App Store and sign in to the account that needs a phone number added
When the code does not arrive
In order of how often each one is the real cause:
- The verification prompt is actually asking for age verification, not a phone number
These are different checks. A phone number will not satisfy an ID-based age request; look for the specific wording on the prompt before assuming a number resolves it. - The rented number is refused at the confirmation step
Some virtual and VoIP ranges are turned away inconsistently, and there is no dependable list of which pass. A genuinely mobile-rated number is the more reliable next attempt. - The SMS code never arrives though the order shows as active
Check the country table on this page for how that range is delivering right now. An order where nothing arrives before the window closes is refunded automatically; a different country is worth trying next. - The number is already attached to a different Roblox account
Roblox ties a verified phone number to one account at a time. Remove it from the other account first, in that account's settings, or use a different number here. - Voice chat or another social feature still will not open after adding a number
That feature is gated by age verification, not by the phone number. Adding a number does not change that; the ID-based check is a separate step this service does not provide. - The account is locked out and the email on file no longer works
This is exactly what a verified phone number helps with. Use Roblox's own account-recovery flow and choose the phone option if one is offered. - A parent's Account Restrictions are blocking something after a number was added
That is expected and by design. A phone number does not lift restrictions a parent has set, and this page does not offer a way around them. - Verification is being attempted on an account that was moderated or that is not yours
Stop. This service supports setting up your own account's recovery, not returning to an account that was actioned for a rules violation or that belongs to someone else.
Working out which case you are in
- Is the prompt asking for an ID document or an age check, not a phone number? Yes A phone number will not satisfy that; it needs Roblox's own age-verification flow. No Continue adding a phone number under Account Info as normal.
- Was the number refused the moment it was entered? Yes That range is not accepted here; try a genuinely mobile-rated number. No Wait for the SMS code and enter it before the confirmation screen times out.
- Is the account holding Robux, limited items or Creator earnings? Yes Use a number you control long-term and turn on two-step verification too. No A short-term number is a reasonable fit for a routine, low-stakes account.
- Is the goal getting around a parent's restrictions or an age check? Yes This page and this service do not support that; stop here. No Verification here is for setting up an account's recovery properly.
- Is the account locked out with no working email? Yes Use Roblox account recovery and add a phone number as the alternate contact. No The phone number is a supporting recovery step, not the main way in.
Before you request another code
- Work out which check is actually being asked for — email, phone, or ID-based age verification — before adding anything
- Check the country table on this page for how that range is delivering to Roblox today
- Expect some rented ranges to be refused, and have a genuinely mobile number ready as a fallback
- Turn on two-step verification separately if the account holds Robux, limited items or Creator earnings
- Use a number you plan to keep if recovery might ever depend on it, not one you are only renting briefly
- Keep the email address on the account current as well; recovery works best with both reachable
- Manage a child's account through Roblox's own parental tools, not by relying on the phone number
- Do not use phone verification as a way around a parent's Account Restrictions or an age check
- Treat account or Robux trading outside Roblox's own systems as out of scope for what this page supports
Which kind of number to use
| Kind of number | Usually works? | Privacy | Long-term recovery | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Your own SIM | Yes | Number not shown to other players | The steadiest option if recovery ever depends on it | The baseline; no acceptance uncertainty at all |
| A second physical SIM | Yes | Same privacy as any Roblox number | Depends on keeping that SIM active long-term | Sound for a family or creator account kept for years |
| An eSIM on a real mobile plan | Usually | Same as any other verified number | Tied to the plan; losing the profile loses the number | Fine if the carrier bills it as a genuine mobile line |
| A prepaid mobile SIM | Usually | Same as any other verified number | Recovery depends on keeping the line topped up | Workable if it stays active well past setup |
| A rented private number like ours | Sometimes | Number not shown to other players | Weak once it lapses; recovery may need it again later | Fine for a routine settings prompt, risky as the only recovery contact |
| A VoIP or app-based number | Rarely | Varies by provider | Not built for repeated account-security use | Often refused outright at the confirmation step |
| A shared or public SMS inbox | Rarely | No privacy — a code sent there may be visible to others | None; anyone with access could see a code meant for you | Not suitable for anything tied to Robux or a child's account |

Questions
Does Roblox require a phone number to sign up or play?
No. Creating an account only asks for a username, a birthdate and a password. A phone number is optional and gets added later, usually in account settings for recovery purposes.
What is the actual difference between phone verification and age verification on Roblox?
Phone verification confirms a number reaches you and mainly supports account recovery and settings. Age verification is a separate, ID-based check that confirms an account holder's age band and gates features like voice chat. Neither one substitutes for the other.
Will adding a phone number unlock voice chat?
No. Voice chat and similar age-gated features need Roblox's own age-verification process, typically involving an ID check. A verified phone number on the account does not touch that requirement.
Does Roblox accept virtual or rented phone numbers?
Inconsistently. Some rented ranges pass the confirmation step and others are refused, with no dependable published list either way. A genuinely mobile-rated number is the more reliable fallback.
Is a phone number the best way to protect an account with Robux and items?
Not by itself. Two-step verification, tied to an authenticator app or a number you actually keep, is the setting that does the most to stop account theft. A phone number is a useful addition, not a substitute for it.
Can a phone number get me back into an account after losing my email?
Often, yes, if the number was added as a recovery contact before the email was lost. That is the strongest legitimate reason to add one, and it is also why it should be a number you intend to keep working.
Can I use a rented number to get around my child's account restrictions?
No, and this page will not help with that. Account Restrictions are set deliberately by a parent, and a phone number does not lift them. Manage them through Roblox's own parental tools instead.
Is a phone number required for a child's Roblox account?
No. It is optional and works the same way as on any account, mainly as a recovery contact. Roblox's parental controls and Account Restrictions operate separately from whether a phone number is on file.
Can I use one number to verify two Roblox accounts?
No, not at the same time. A verified number is tied to one account until it is removed there, so a second account needs its own number or the first has to give it up.
What happens to a Creator or group account if the recovery number lapses?
Recovery gets harder, the same as any account, but the stakes are higher when earnings or a group's funds are involved. Creators should use a number they control long-term rather than a rented one.
What if the SMS code never arrives — am I charged?
You are charged only when a code actually reaches the number. An order where nothing arrives before the window closes is refunded automatically, and checking the country table first helps avoid a weak route.
Can a new phone number undo a Roblox moderation action or ban?
No. Moderation actions are tied to the account and its history, not to whichever phone number is on file. This page and this service do not support working around one.
