How Verified Fan uses your number

For tours and events where demand far exceeds supply, Ticketmaster often runs a Verified Fan presale. You register interest before the sale with your account, and your phone number is part of that registration. Before the sale, selected fans receive a unique access code by text message to that number; others may be waitlisted.

The code is tied to your account and is used during the presale window. Without it, you cannot join that presale.

The timing problem with temporary numbers

Registration and the code can be separated by days or weeks. A rented number lasts a short time; by the time selection happens, it has ended and may be serving someone else. The code is sent to a number you no longer control — and you might not even know you were selected.

This is why we mark Ticketmaster as a poor fit for rented numbers, even when a signup code might arrive. The step that matters happens later.

Bot and reseller checks

High-demand sales attract bots and bulk buyers. Ticketmaster works against them with account checks, limits per account and per number, queue systems and reviews of suspicious activity. Accounts that look like part of a cluster — many accounts sharing numbers, cards or devices — can be cancelled, and their orders with them.

We do not support using our numbers to create extra ticketing accounts. Beyond the rules, it risks the orders of everyone involved.

Tickets live in the app

Most Ticketmaster tickets are mobile tickets shown in the app, often with a barcode that changes every few seconds so screenshots do not work. That means you need to be able to sign in on event day. Keep your password, email and phone current, and sign in on your phone before you leave home.

If you are going with friends, transfer their tickets to their own accounts in advance; transferring to someone's email or phone uses their details, not a temporary number.

Presale codes and tickets from strangers

Scammers sell "presale codes", "guaranteed Verified Fan access" or tickets through social media and messaging apps. Verified Fan codes are tied to the account they were issued to, and tickets bought outside official resale can be invalid or duplicated. Buy through Ticketmaster or other authorised sellers, and never share your account code with anyone.

When the code does not arrive

In order of how often each one is the real cause:

1. You never received a Verified Fan code
   You may not have been selected, or the number on your registration no longer reaches you. Check your registration details.
2. The phone verification code did not arrive
   Check the number and country code; Ticketmaster may refuse some number types.
3. An order was cancelled
   Ticketmaster may cancel orders linked to suspected bots or multiple accounts. Contact support.
4. A screenshot of the ticket does not scan
   Rotating barcodes need the live app. Sign in on your phone.
5. Someone offers a presale code for money
   It is a scam. Codes are tied to their account.
