Why research platforms verify people

A study that interviews eight people is worthless if three of them are the same person, or if participants claim to be nurses, drivers or small business owners when they are not. Companies make design decisions on what participants say. Research platforms therefore check that each participant is a real, separate person, using phone verification, profile consistency and behaviour across studies.

People most often use one of our numbers for Askable to:

Many apps expect the number you keep. We help with the cases above; we do not help anyone reach an account that is not theirs — see our acceptable use policy.

Screeners: answer honestly

Screeners ask about your job, habits, devices and experiences to find people who fit a study. It is tempting to guess which answers qualify. Researchers notice quickly in a live session when someone does not actually use the product or do the job they claimed, and they can report it. Participants flagged for misrepresentation lose access to future studies.

Honest answers mean fewer invitations but sessions you can do well, and a good reputation brings more invites over time.

One person, one account

Creating extra accounts with different numbers or emails to get more invitations is exactly what research platforms work hardest to prevent. It can lead to all linked accounts being removed and incentives withheld. We do not support using our numbers for it.

Sessions need working contact details

Moderated interviews happen at a set time, often by video call, and researchers or coordinators may contact you about scheduling, links or last-minute changes. A number that stops working between booking and the session means missed sessions, and no-shows hurt your standing.

Getting your incentive

Incentives are paid after a completed session through the methods the platform offers in your country. The payout account should be in your name and match your profile. Mismatches can delay payment or prompt extra checks.

Incentives vary with the length and type of study. A short unmoderated test pays less than an hour-long interview with a specialist audience. Before accepting, check the time commitment and the incentive shown, so you only book sessions that are worth it to you.

Your privacy in studies

Studies may record your screen, voice or face. Consent forms say what is recorded and how it is used, so read them. You can decline a study you are not comfortable with. Researchers should not ask for passwords, payment card numbers or identity documents during a session, and you can refuse if they do.

Being a participant researchers invite again

Join sessions on time with a working microphone and camera, test the call link beforehand, and think aloud when asked, since researchers learn more from your reasoning than from a quick answer. Say so when something is confusing. Honest criticism is exactly what they are paying for. Participants who show up prepared and speak candidly get rated well and invited more often.

Questions

What is Askable?

A platform that recruits people for paid user research studies.

Can I use a rented number on Askable?

We do not recommend it. Participant profiles must represent one real person.

Can I have more than one account?

No. Duplicate accounts are removed.

What happens if I exaggerate in a screener?

Researchers usually notice in the session, and accounts can be removed.

How am I paid?

An incentive after each completed session, through the payout methods offered in your country.

Can a researcher ask for my password?

No. Refuse any request for passwords or payment card numbers.

Do you have free Askable numbers?

Public free numbers are shared by everyone who visits a site, so Askable usually rejects them or someone else reads the code first. Our numbers are private for the whole activation.

What if Askable does not send the code?

You are not charged. Try another country from the table — delivery differs by country, and the measured rates show where it works best.

How much does a Askable number cost?

From $4.08, depending on the country. The price shown is the whole price: it is held on your balance and charged only when the SMS arrives.

Can I use the number again later?

No. An activation covers one code. If the account may ask for a code again, keep your own number on it or add an authenticator app.

Which country should I choose for Askable?

Right now the lowest prices are in Indonesia ($4.08), Malaysia ($4.08), Brazil ($4.16). Where we have at least 100 measured orders the table also shows the delivery rate — when there is one, pick the country with the highest rate.
