Autodesk gives students and educators free access to much of its software for learning. To get it, you confirm that you are enrolled at or employed by a qualifying educational institution, usually by uploading a document such as a student ID, transcript or enrolment letter. The check is handled through an eligibility process, and access has to be renewed periodically.

None of that involves a phone number. Opening extra accounts, or using someone else's school documents, does not create eligibility. Licences obtained that way can be withdrawn.

What education licences allow

Education licences are for learning and teaching, not for paid or commercial work. Files created with them may be marked as education files. If you start freelancing or working professionally, you need a commercial subscription.

When you graduate or leave a teaching job, education access ends at the next renewal. Export anything you want to keep from cloud projects before then, and plan the move to a commercial plan or trial if you will keep working in the software.

Two-step verification

Autodesk accounts support two-step verification by SMS or an authenticator app. The authenticator keeps codes on your device and is unaffected by number changes or SIM swaps. Turn it on and save any backup options Autodesk offers.

If your account was created with a temporary number, switch the second step to an authenticator before the number lapses.

Team and company licences

In businesses, licences are assigned by an admin to named users. The admin controls who has access and can reassign seats. If you leave a company, your access to its licences ends. Keep personal learning and projects in a personal account.

Cracked software and cheap keys

Fusion and other cloud-connected tools store projects in your Autodesk account. That makes the account the place your work lives. Use a unique password, keep your email secure, since it resets the account, and export copies of important projects regularly.

Licence and invoice phishing

Emails claiming your Autodesk licence is expiring, suspended or overdue, with a link to sign in or pay, are a common phishing lure aimed at designers and engineers. Open your Autodesk account directly to check any subscription notice, and never enter your password on a page reached from an unexpected email.

2. Education access expired
   Re-verify eligibility.
3. An SMS code did not arrive

4. Your licence disappeared after buying a cheap key
   Keys from unauthorised sellers can be revoked.
5. You cannot access a company licence
   Ask your organisation's admin.
